From the 1939 René Cayeux Iris Catalog: The most solid strong self coloured old reddish purple Iris we have introduced of the <> type, but far superior, deeper and brighter in tone its larger well-formed flowers. Its great freedom and firmness of stems makes in invaluable, unique for grouping.
From the 1954 René Cayeux & Cie Catalog: Total bright magenta violet color; the medium flower is of perfect shape and without a visible haft, thus accentuating the unity of the hue.
From the 2017 Cayeux Iris Catalog: The entire flower is of a rich, bright and plain purple. In other words, it's a historic version of Loyalist. Bronze-yellow beards.
