INTERESTING INFO:
From the 1963 Schreiner's Iris Lover's Catalog: Like the basso-profundo notes of the bass-viol in Mozart's Linz Symphony, the velvety deep-violet iris provide magnificent contrast and deep-toned richness in an iris planting. Forty-four inch tall After Dark is not the first tall deep violet but it does represent progress in its four-branched stems, lusty growth, and exhuberant bud-count. This is the heaviest blooming deep violet that we know of and with its fine size, ruffling, and velvety nap it is a superb garden iris. After Dark won a Highly Commended award last year from AIS judges.
