From the 1973 Schreiner's Iris Lover's Catalog: "—like thunder from across the bay!" This iris arises, an adventure in contrasts as close to black and white in one iris as any variety extant. The standards are pure white, firmly arched, upright and cupped; the falls of rich plum blue approach some of our "black" iris; as haft that is not completely smooth all over is perhaps a feature to be improved—but what a striking amoena!
