From the 1998 Schreiner's Iris Lover's Catalog: Here is a step forward in the quest for a good pink amoena. As shown in our photo, color is the strong point. This descendant of Flamingo Way presents an excellent contrast between magnolia white standards and bright rosy pink falls. With all this energy going into color, it's not surprising that Sugar Magnolia is somewhat lacking in other plant qualities. Its flowers are small and each stem only has a maximum of six buds. Plant growth and similarly only average at best. Still it's a worthy advance in this difficult color class.
