INTERESTING INFO: From the 1971 Schreiner's Iris Lover's Catalog: Can there be an iris as dark as this? Yes, this is a very, very dark iris. In fact, it is the blackest iris we have seen. The imposing feature of the good sized flower is the depth and intensity of color. One visiting iris judge, while viewing this seedling, held her patent leather purse next to the bloom and colors matched and shone in the same high polish finish. So black and dark is this iris, without a hint of purple or maroon, it is almost unbelievable. Two branches with 5 buds. HC'70
