INTERESTING INFO:
From the 1965 Schreiner's Iris Lover's Catalog: We have always been interested in the development of finer reds, and, while progress has been gradual rather than spectacular, we feel that several of the seedlings we have succeeded in developing have added materially to the excellence that this class possesses today – especially in the realm of good sized flowers and tall, well-branched stems. In color, Frontier Marshall is a rich, uniform shade of crimson lake. Except for the rich bronzy cast of the beard, it is a true self. Note the broad, classic form, venation-free hafts, high sheen and you will realize more and more that it is an exceptionally rich and beautiful iris.
