INTERESTING INFO: From the 1971 Schreiner's Iris Lover's Catalog: This iris is absolutely unique...so startingly different in fact that the reaction is generally immediate—you love it or you pass it by. It is a subtle colored iris. A unique balance of nearly indescribable smoke toned standards with full syncopation of rich, silken, dark blue-black falls. The infusion of muted brown and fawn tan lends this bitone an aura of mystery. The name Dusky Evening seemed just right. Of splendid garden mien, with fine stems and up to 4 branches and 9 buds, there is no other just like it. Received 29 HC votes at the AIS National Convention in New York City in 1970, the highest polling of all seedlings. No small achievement!
