INTERSTING INFO: From the 1957 Schreiner's Iris Lover's Catalog: Certain hybridizing objectives in the Iris world are very difficult of attainment, as for instance, a pink and white amoena. But along the way, as a reward for patience, Nature occasionally vouchsafes a generous consolation prize, such as this uniquely beautiful rose and cream bicolor. Superior to, and earlier than, our long time favorite, Morning Bright, this Iris has opulent classic form, ideal height and branching, and generous size. Lovely in the clump as a sconce full of lighted rose-toned candles. Broadway Star is not only an original garden Iris, but also a potential breeder's Iris because of its Pinnacle ancestry. Related also to a seedling of Maytime, Extravaganza, Pink Reflection and Majenica, it sustains our hopes of eventually securing that pink and white amoena. But in the meantime we'd like to share with you this refreshingly different garden subject.
IMPOSTOR ALERT: There is an imposter being circulated around that is more of a variegata being called Broadway Star. Broadway star should fit the Registry information above with cream standards and rosy falls.
