INTERSTING INFO: From the 1941 Schreiner's Iris Lover's Catalog: This is the darkest black iris we have grown to date. In color it is the richest velvety blackish purple. It is an Intermediate but compared to tall bearded kinds it is richer and darker than Ethiop Queen or Sable. Practically a self, the extra rich plush-like falls give it a slight bicolor effect. A stunning combination planted with rich yellow iris or pastel tulips.

From the 1942 Longfield Iris Farm Catalog: A new dark blackish Iris. In color rich velvety blackish purple - nearly a self in color but the plush-like quality of the falls makes it appear as a bicolor.
